Quick Answer: NBCSN has no channel number on DIRECTV, because DIRECTV does not carry the new NBCSN. As of October 13, 2026, DIRECTV has not announced a deal for it. Why Is There No NBCSN Channel Number on DIRECTV?
The NBCSN you can watch today is a new channel. NBCUniversal closed the first NBC Sports Network at the end of 2021 and moved much of its sport to USA Network. It launched a new channel with the same NBCSN name on November 17, 2025.
DIRECTV carried the old channel, so older guides and some search answers still show a DIRECTV number for NBCSN. That number belonged to the channel that closed in 2021. If you tune to it, you will not find the new NBCSN there.
In May 2026 a DIRECTV customer asked on DIRECTV’s own community forum when NBCSN would arrive. The DIRECTV support team did not give a date. It said DIRECTV is always looking to add important programming and told the customer to follow @DIRECTVNews for updates. We found no later announcement.
Which TV Providers Carry NBCSN Right Now?
Only three big services carry the new NBCSN. Streaming services have no channel numbers, so on those you find it by name in the live guide. This table shows what we could confirm on October 13, 2026.

Is NBC Sports NOW on DIRECTV the Same as NBCSN?
No. This is where many DIRECTV customers get mixed up. DIRECTV’s online guide lists a channel called NBC Sports NOW on channel 4180. NBC describes NBC Sports NOW as a free 24/7 streaming channel with sports talk shows, highlights and replays.
NBC’s own page for NBC Sports NOW lists shows like PFT Live with Mike Florio and The Dan Patrick Show. The NBA games in the schedule further down are listed for NBCSN and Peacock, not for NBC Sports NOW. Here is how the NBC names on DIRECTV line up.

Worth knowing: channels with “NBC Sports” and a city in the name, such as NBC Sports Boston or NBC Sports Bay Area, are regional sports networks, the channels that carry your local teams. What Is on NBCSN This Fall That DIRECTV Viewers Miss?
NBCSN mostly shows sport that NBC also streams on Peacock. NBCUniversal’s fall schedule, published October 7, 2026, lists these NBCSN games. Every one of them also streams on Peacock.

The NBA pattern is simple. NBC Sports said in August that every Peacock-only NBA game on a Monday night is also shown on NBCSN. So if you have Peacock Premium, you do not need NBCSN for those games. Schedules can change, so check NBC Sports or Peacock on game day.
What Is the Cheapest Way for a DIRECTV Customer to Watch NBCSN Games?
For most people it is Peacock Premium, added on top of DIRECTV, either straight from Peacock or through DIRECTV. You keep your DIRECTV service and add one app. Peacock’s cheaper Select plan does not include live sports, so it will not show these games.

Peacock prices are the ones it set on August 18, 2026, as reported by TVLine. Existing subscribers moved to them at their first bill on or after September 17, 2026. YouTube TV’s prices come from its own sign-up page, and its first-two-months offer ends November 16, 2026.

Waiting is the right call for most DIRECTV customers. NBCSN is one channel, and the games on it this fall also stream on Peacock. A DIRECTV contract can also carry an early cancellation fee, so check your account before you leave.

- Follow DIRECTV’s news account, @DIRECTVNews, which DIRECTV’s support team named as the place for updates.
- Be wary of any page that gives a DIRECTV number for NBCSN without a date. It is probably the old channel’s number from before 2021.
